Suzuki Katana GSX-750F, Kuala Lumpur

This video belongs to a superbiker friend of mine from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by the name of Raja Shaharul Izam. Watched it the first time when we first met during the phuket bike week few years back. We got along together quite well after that and has been so until now. I decided to beg him to upload this video.

Nothing special bout this video, just that i like the way Syahrul (so he was called) rides. He was a good travelling motorcycle partner, always cover up the rear, good safety practice, highly adaptable and very reliable. I miss riding with this easy going guy!

Anyhow, in this video, if you notice in the tunnel, he accelerate just a little bit and the bike, equipped with dynojet, went boom. Can feel it accelerating like it has rocket or something. FYI : this ain't his superbike.

Sport Touring

Sport Touring is one of the classes of motorcycle. These motorcycles are mutated offsprings of the evil sportbikes and the serene tourer. Imagine this...a Honda Fireblade CBR1000RR humps a Honda Gold Wing GL1800 and what do you get? A Honda Pan-European ST1300. Yeah, a different kind of breed that is totally awesome!

Honda Pan European ST1300

A sport touring would have these basic characteristic, though not limited to :

- Handlebar that is higher than the tank, as opposed to sportbike's lower handlebar.
- Fairing and windscreen are larger than a sportbike but smaller than the tourer.
- Longer wheelbase for that straight road stability (less comfort than tourer, more comfort than sportbike).
- Higher ground clearance for smooth cornering (smoother than tourer, less smooth than sportbike).
- Mid-range power. Gives a bit of top speed for the sake of cruising speed comfort.

Bascally, you will feel that you can do more sportbiking on a tourer and do more touring with a sportbike. Get the idea? You can take corners with more swing and agility with a comfort of a tourer. But always remember, it wont feel as agood as it's original element. You will feel more comfort on a tourer and you can go faster and lean more in corners with a sportbike.

All in all, the sport touring is in the middle of a tourer and a sportbike. Try picture riding a Fireblade with the capabilities of a Gold Wing. OK, so you wont get the most out of both bikes, but still, you have both elements cramped into one.

I'm lost for words. Go ride one. Here are some examples of sport touring bikes :

Honda ST1100, ST1300
Ducati ST2, ST3, ST4
Kawasaki GTR1000, 1400GTR,
Yamaha FJR1300
Triumph Sprint ST
BMW K1300GT, etc (they have a lot of sport touring model and to me, BMW makes the best sport touring motorcycle ever).

and the lsit goes on.....
